The following is original artwork using the monotype process to create a monotype illustration. I enjoy defining the end result of a monotype print into something to be appreciated .
I graduated from the College of the Arts in Oakland, CA with a degree in illustration. The goal was to do art for album jackets but I ended up becoming an Art Director at NY ad agencies.
What I learned from college in a printmaking class was how to create monotypes. The one print process where you draw and paint on a plate using oil-based inks getting unique colors and images.
Edgar Degas did impressionable images in monotypes that I appreciate. He used pastels to accentuate whereas I use Prismacolor pencils to define and clarify the image.
